Visit Us

A visit to Free State Cellars isn’t something you stumble into. It’s something you remember. Tucked against the bayou on the Texas-Louisiana border, our vineyard and winery is a place where live music drifts across the patios on weekends, seasonal events mark the rhythm of the vine, and strangers have a way of leaving as friends. This is the Free State.

Our Home

Every corner of Free State Cellars tells a story, from the muscadine rows bordering the bayou, the mid-century cool of the Sunday House, or the hum of production at The Cellars. These aren’t just spaces. They’re where the Free State mythology comes alive, one glass at a time.

Come for the wine. Stay for the charcuterie, the frozen sangria, the bayou breeze, and the kind of afternoon that has a way of becoming an evening. We’ve been saving your seat.

The Cellars

pRIVATE PARTIES AND SPECIAL EVENTS

The Cellars is where our story began. Our original tasting room and winemaking hub, now opens primarily for private and special events, the porch and surrounding patio has grown into one of our most beloved gathering spots.

Our open-air patio is nestled beside our estate vineyard, offering sweeping views of the muscadine vines and a warm, rustic ambiance that shifts with the seasons. The patio flows seamlessly into the Vineyard Stage, where we regularly host live music, intimate concerts, and seasonal celebrations. Guests can enjoy a glass of wine beneath café lights, with the scent of grapevines in the breeze, and the hum of live music in the air.

As twilight falls, The Cellars transforms, becoming the backdrop for movie nights under the stars, impromptu dance floors, or fireside conversation. It’s a place where wine, community, and Texas skies come together in perfect harmony.

The Sunday House

TASTING ROOM, wines by the glass AND BOTTLE

A charming transformation of a historic home, The Sunday House is the heart of our daily operations. This welcoming space offers a relaxed, 21+ guest experience with intimate indoor seating for parties of up to six and full bar service. The Sunday House flows effortlessly onto two large decks overlooking the vineyard, making it an ideal setting for small gatherings, casual tastings, and private celebrations.

The Sunday House is a gathering-focused indoor venue designed for celebrations, live music, and the kind of golden-hour evenings that end with you wondering why you don’t make the drive more often. The beautiful tasting room turns heads with its mid-century modern lines. Wine is poured by the people who know each vintage by heart and talk about it like they’re telling a family story. Tastings are self-guided flights of six wines chosen from the rotating selection.  Artisanal cheeses and cured meats are available à la carte. No reservation required during regular hours.

In Good Hands

Poured with Pride. Served with Soul.

Your wine is poured by people who know it by heart. Family who’ve watched every vintage come to life and welcome every guest like one of their own. At Free State Cellars, that’s not hospitality. That’s just Thursday.

Handcrafted wines and seasonal frozen sangrias are available by the glass in the Sunday House or out on the vineyard patios. Bottles are available for those who want to linger longer or carry a little Free State magic home.

Last pour is 15 minutes before closing. Plenty of time to find your favorite and order one more.

Take the Party Home

Contraband by the Gallon

Why let the good times stop when the afternoon does? Our handcrafted sangrias are available to-go in Fat Quarters, Half-Gallons, and Full Gallons. We make our sangrias in-house from winery-exclusive wines and infused with bold, rotating seasonal flavors that change as often as the Texas weather. Every blend carries the same outlaw creativity that goes into everything we make here.

Swing by the tasting room to see what’s on tap this week. Whatever’s pouring won’t last long, and neither should your excuses not to take some home.
